2016 Rose Nolan Scholarship winner Liane Chiblow is a member of Serpent River First Nation in Ontario. She is a single mother and currently in her final year at Carlton University and will graduate with an Honours Bachelors Communications and Media studies with a Minor in Anthropology.
This past year she was on the Dean’s List and has managed to cram a four year program into three. In addition to her academics, Liane has been involved with the Aboriginal community through local and national projects. She worked on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls file with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada and also helped coordinate events with Ottawa’s Summer Solstice Aboriginal Festival.
Currently, she is working with the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch to help improve health strategies amongst First Nation youth.
Laine is very proud to be balancing school and raising her beautiful daughter.
