Kim Gabriel 2012 Rose Nolan Scholarship Winner is a forty-two year old Kanien’keha:ka woman from Kanehsatake First Nation in Quebec.
She is entering her nal year at Douglas College to become a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
After going through many hardships in life Kim decided to pursue a career in the field of mental health and addictions in order to provide support to First Nations individuals living with the many challenges that our people face.
Kim is the mother of two beautiful teenage daughters and for twelve years was employed at the Tsi Ronterih-wanonhnha Ne Kanien;keha as an illustrator, typist, secretary and bookkeeper.
Her job gave her the opportunity to learn to speak, read and write Kanien’keha at an intermediate high level.
