Meet Jennifer Sylliboy – 2014 Winner

Jennifer Sylliboy is from Eskasoni, Nova Scotia. She is a currently working on her Master’s Degree of Science in Sustainable Energy Developmental at the University of Calgary. She hopes that when she completes her degree she will find employment in the Oil or Gas Industry.

Nova Scotia and the Mi’kmaq people have in recent years committed to increasing the percentage of electricity coming from renewable energy. Jennifer hopes to become part of the transition by working in some capacity in the energy Industry.

For several years Jennifer has worked as a math tutor for both of the Eskasoni high schools. As well, she has had the opportunity to participate as a volunteer for celebrations, activities, fundraising events and activities in her community.

Memorable was her chaperoning a travel group of grade 12 students to Europe. Jennifer also states that her 5 year old daughter was the impetus for her to complete and further her education.

Congratulations Jennifer for being a recipient of the 2014 Rose Nolan Memorial Scholarship.
