Geraldine is Ojibway from Gull Bay First Nation and even though she has been a successful scholar Geraldine believes her greatest success is her son. She believes that aboriginal youth are going to succeed in both traditional education and through mainstream schooling.
She has successfully completed her B.A. Honour’s degree and also awarded a Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. In the fall Geraldine will begin a Master’s degree in Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria. Her goal is to be able to give back to her community and to learn from them in order to enrich Anishinaabeg sovereignty in order to promote healthy communities.
Geraldine aspires to continue her education and acknowledges the support of her community and through the support of the Indigenous organizations she believes she can continue to achieve and realize her dreams.
Congratulations Geraldine for being a recipient of the 2014 Rose Nolan Scholarship.
