Meet Elektra Charles– 2014 Winner

Elektra Charles is from Lac la Ronge, Saskatchewan. Currently, Elektra is in her fourth year studying Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan.

Growing up on a small First Nations Reserve in Northern Saskatchewan she developed a tireless work ethic and compassionate attitude. A natural athlete, Elecktra discovered her passion for sports when she first followed the Saskatchewan First Nations Summer Games.

Later on, she participated in the Saskatchewan Aboriginal Indoor Track and Field Championships, and made the team for the North American Indigenous Games- winning medals for Track and Field. Elektra also obtained her level 1 coaching certificate for Track and Field. She has coached at the skill development camp portion of the Saskatchewan Indoor Track and Field championships.

Elektra’s future goals are to compete at the international level for Track and Field as well as to complete her Kinesiology degree and apply to the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She hopes to use her background in sports to help prevent illness though the promotion of healthy living.
