2013 Rose Nolan Scholarship winner Candice Loring is a member of Gitwangak First Nation in British Columbia. She is enrolled at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus and is in her 2nd year of Business Management.
Candice is the proud mother of two sons, Jonah and Caleb, and is very thankful to be living in her community of Westbank. Her oldest son Jonah was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth, and without the community’s support, Candice expressed that she would not be in university today.
Candice has been an active member in the community attending local events and volunteering at the Friendship Centre and food bank. She often cooks breakfast for over 200 people on Saturday mornings.
